Yes, school is in session! Did you hear the collective sigh of relief from all over the area?

Welcome new chamber members: Leslie Barnett, owner of the new boutique downtown on the square called “Cradle to College”, where she specializes in fun clothing for all ages. She has a really cool display of little girls clothing items with the “Frozen” theme. There are plenty of items for the guys and girls, as well. Stop by and welcome her to Clinton. The Chamber will do a ribbon cutting at her store on September 2nd at 11:30 AM, and everyone is invited. Her location is 210 Griggs street, across from the Courthouse.

August 22nd – Free Movie Night & Fire Safety Program at the Clinton Fire Department continues this Friday night with the showing of “Planes”. Bring your lawn chairs & blankets & enjoy a movie night out with the whole family.

August 25th – Ribbon Cutting for new Chamber member Serenity Ridge Recovery located at 166 Third Street in Clinton beginning at 11:30 AM, refreshments will be served and a tour of the facility will be provided. For more information contact Frank Mcilory at 501-617-1308.

August 23rd – 29th Annual Chuckwagon Races begin – Should be an exciting event and will bring many, many visitors to Clinton, let’s give everyone our best Clinton hospitality ever! August 27 – 30th Cowboy Catfish Supper from 5 to 7 PM at the Clinton Senior Center, 311 Yellowjacket Lane in Clinton. The supper is the VBC Aging Program fundraiser that benefits the Meals On Wheels program. Come out and enjoy a great meal for just $10 for adults & $5 for children under 12.

August 23rd – The Guinness Potluck is almost here! Gather your friends and family and make history! The first annual SurvivorFest will begin immediately following the potluck at the Clinton City Park by the baseball fields, where there will be games, contests and demonstration booths all related to survival, emergency preparedness and self-sustainability. The Van Buren County Fair’s theme this is “Mar-Di Gras”, which is also the theme of this year’s Van Buren County Merchant’s Contest. The contest is open to all businesses and organizations in Van Buren County. All participants must include Fair Theme and Fair date in their display (September 6-13) All participants must leave displays up through Saturday, September 13th. There are three display categories and ribbons will be awarded in each category. The Deadline to register your business or organization is Thursday, September 4th.
